Third Day of Christmas: Falling Snow

Falling Snow

Christmas Eve had come and was now quickly fading. The sun began to set in the distance. With night fast approaching, everyone was settling into sleep. Well, almost anyone that is.

One young boy sat atop his roof watching the distant horizon. Behind him the sun finally finished it’s decent below the mountains. Rising from his perch, the boy began to move toward the edge of the roof, slowly at first, but rapidly gaining speed. With a sudden burst, the boy leapt from the roof. As he began to fall, his body began to change.

Just before he could hit the ground, two enormous wings spread out from his back catching him and holding him aloft as he glided forward. Flapping to gain some altitude, the boy was caught in the bright light of the full moon. No longer was a Young human boy to be seen, instead replaced by a silver white dragon.

The dragon began to climb toward the night sky above. Trailing behind him small white crystals began to fall slowly toward the quickly receding earth below. As the dragon reached clouds, he began a simple yet beautiful dance.

As he flew through the clouds, they began to fill with snow. Soon the sky was full of the falling crystals. The dragon smiled as he surveyed his work, then turned and searched the clouds. His keen eyes were not bothered by the soft flakes drifting around his head, and he soon spotted what he was searching for.

There, just below the clouds, He saw the shape of another of his kind. Swift as he could he climbed to join the other dragon. Together they flew together watching their snow fill the world far below. Smiling at each other they began their dance again, this time joined by one another. As the dance the made a sort of bow toward each other and went their separate ways.

Back at his house a young boy climbed quietly down from the high roof of his home and went inside, but not before stealing one last glance at the surrounding landscape, now covered in a good layer of snow.
